Monday –
Gym Day. I’m excited about getting back into my routine. I get there and we’re working legs. Oh no… I just ran 11 miles yesterday! I was hoping this wouldn’t be the case. My legs are sore from the run.
But I did it. Actually, it was probably really good. We did lots of lunges with a big focus on hamstrings and calves. I just didn’t add a lot of weight to any of the exercises. I had a great workout. Took some recovery time after, so that should help a lot. When I got home, I did some extra stretching too. My plan is to do that a few more times today.
Tuesday ~
Today I was up before my alarm went off. I wasn’t tired today—just scared of the heat. It really does suck to run in it.
I’m a slow runner anyway, so the heat just makes it worse. But out the door I went, and there was a nice breeze as I stepped outside. That breeze didn’t last long, though, and the run was on.About two more times, a nice breeze hit me this morning. I ran for 30 minutes. My little toe, where the blister is, was really hurting. Other than that, no pain—actually feeling strong. Now I feel like I should stretch.
Wednesday –
Rest Day
Thursday –
Today on my run I could see all the stars. There wasn’t a cloud anywhere. I read we should be getting rain this afternoon—sure hope so, we need it. It hasn’t rained in weeks, but that sky was so cool. Lots of bright “stars,” which are probably planets. Looking around and appreciating the world helps me a lot on my runs. I try to notice things I usually take for granted—especially at that time of day when no one else is up and it’s still dark. There’s really so much to see.
About 10 minutes into the run, I got the feeling I needed the bathroom. Good thing I was in my neighborhood. Came right home and… nothing. LOL. But I wasn’t willing to chance it. I did 30 minutes today. It was a good morning. Although, I’m ready for a cool-down and that’s still so far away. I have at least two more months of summer here, and sometimes October is hot too.
Friday –
Gym this morning was super hard. It really took everything I had to make it through. I had to cut a lot of reps of exercises in half, but I still worked to failure. I felt so weak today—my shoulder even gave out on me. I’m feeling tired now, but I have work… no time for sleep.
Saturday –
Rest Day
Thoughts –
I am still doing great and super proud of myself.
I’m showing up and giving it all I have each day.
Side note: From here on out, the weeks will cover Sunday through Saturday.
