Sunday

I have 6 miles to run today, which sounds like nothing compared to the 19 from last week. I’m running alone today. My husband signed up for a run with a group of guys from his PT, so I’m looking forward to seeing how I do on my own. I packed water, electrolytes, and one fueling gel.

I decided to do more running this time, so I only took two walk breaks. The plan was to run two miles and then walk two minutes. This has worked great for me in the past, and it worked great today too. I took one bathroom break just in case and mixed up my electrolytes around mile four, then took the gel. I felt good the whole time.

It’s still pretty hot out, but the temps are finally starting to go down a bit.

Monday

It’s shoulder day at the gym, which is always super hard for me. I can’t do a lot of exercises and have to modify quite a bit. The coach also showed me a new way to do bicep curls — I don’t get it though; I felt it in my back, so next time I’ll ask her to clarify. With all my modifying, my shoulder is feeling great!

Tuesday

I should be running today, but I’m tired again. I’m just having a hard time getting up and going.

Wednesday

This evening was really fun! Bayshore Run Club had an event with lululemon at one of our local malls. So we went — there were lots of people! Run clubs from all over South Florida came. It was really nice to see so many runners of all levels and ages. I did a nice 2-mile run. When I got back, they had wraps for us and fresh juice — a very nice surprise!

Thursday

I set my alarm for 5:30 with good intentions of running. I really do need to get back to a regular training schedule. Well, I got up at 6:30. I totally had it in my head — “Well, there goes another day. It’s okay, I suck at running anyway. I’m too slow; this isn’t possible. ”Then, sitting on the lanai with my coffee, I called bullsh*t! I can do this! It’s not too late for a 30-minute run. So I got my butt up and did a 30-minute run — and I actually feel better now too. This is turning out to be harder than I thought it would be, but I can do it! My finish will be a true victory. Slow runners can do this too.

Friday

Back at the gym — lots of squats and lunges today. It was a good day, even though I was tired before and super tired after. I didn’t add much extra weight today, and it was still hard. I had trouble making all the reps they asked for. I’m so looking forward to rest day tomorrow.

Saturday

Rest day — but I did take a little walk.
