Monday-
Up at 4:00 a.m. to get to the gym for class. It was burnout shoulder day. I had to grab the hidden lighter weights—but I still burned them out!
We had chin-ups today, and I can’t really do them—not even assisted. The coach showed me an exercise with TRX straps instead. So I did what I could: kind of one assisted chin-up, then moved to the TRX.
By the end of class, I had completely dropped the weights and was just using body weight. About three of the exercises were easier—a bit like working recovery between sets.
I worked super hard today and am very proud of myself.
Tuesday – Run Day!
Got up at 5:00 a.m. We're getting into summer now; you have to get up early to beat the heat. It was a very humid morning—74° with a “feels like” of 77°.
I felt pretty good today. My back still feels a little tight, but nothing bothered me during the run.
I enjoyed listening to my music—no head games to get through today. Broke a good sweat too with the heat.
I ran for 30 minutes and did a half-mile walk to cool down. At the staircase, I added incline push-ups using the stairs—set of 10. The last 3 were super hard!
Wednesday – Active Rest Day
I finished work at 1:00, so I took advantage of the extra time and went for a 3-mile walk—starting at Baker Park and heading down the Greenway a bit.
I was hoping to see some cool wildlife. I saw an iguana—guess that’s cool, at least it was bright green!
After my walk, I went to get a full-body massage—totally fixed everything!
Thursday – Run Day
This week, I set up all my runs to be 30 minutes.
This morning was really cool. The birds were singing so much I didn’t even need music—that was so cool. It was like I was surrounded by them.
Another humid morning. I’m not checking the temp anymore. But I sweated so much my shirt stuck to me.
I’m gonna be so good at this heat thing!
Friday – Gym Day
Back to the gym. This morning’s class was super small—only 5 of us came. Actually made it really nice—like a private training session.
The coach helped me a lot with form on the squat rack. I also added weights to the bar this time. I’d been staying on the lighter side so I wouldn’t be too sore to run, but now I’m thinking maybe that’s not the best strategy.
I felt great after adding more weight. We’re going to try more and see what happens.
Saturday – REST DAY
Sunday – Run Day
Usually, this is a long run day. My training schedule goes up and down—for example, last week was 6 miles, this week was 3, and next week will be 7.5.
So today felt like an easy day.
My calves are tight again—I’ll roll them out a few times today.
It was overcast, the air was still, but the birds were singing away.I started running at 6:00 a.m.—it was still dark, but the sun came up fast.
Some of the low clouds turned pink as the sun tried to appear. It really was beautiful! I’m so grateful that I am able to run.
I walked a mile to cool down afterward. Saw some cool sun rays coming through the clouds.
There was this split in the sky where the sun tried to peek through—it glowed so brightly. The sun never fully broke through.
Thoughts:
This week was good
!I’m feeling pretty good and am grateful.
